NBA analyst Skip Bayless who is never too fond of Los Angeles star LeBron James has found a new reason to criticise the Akron Hammer. The Lakers are in massive trouble after they lost on the road against the Minnesota Timberwolves. They were defeated 104-124 taking their overall record won to 29-40 in the Western Conference.
LeBron who has been exceptional with his consistent performances is among the top three contenders in the scoring title. The Lakers’ talisman had an off day where he scored 19 points against the Timberwolves where his shooting was all over the place. He was very less efficient from the field as he scored only 8 out of 21 from the field at a 38.1% percentage.
LeBron, unfortunately, had a team high of five turnovers against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He even had a cold night in terms of three point shooting as he was only one out of eight from downtown. LeBron’s performances on the night and the Lakers’ loss allowed Bayless to fire shots at the King.
Following the Lakers defeat, Bayless wrote on Twitter, “And some people seriously believe LeBron James is the GOAT???”
The Los Angeles Lakers are going through a very rough phase as they have now lost three games on the trot with their defeat against the Timberwolves. This is also their ninth loss since the All-Star break. The Lakers are currently ninth in the Western Conference. They are just one match ahead of the tenth placed New Orleans Pelicans and 2.5 games ahead of eleventh placed San Antonio Spurs. Their main aim will be to get into the play-in tournament and then take their season from there.
Their underwhelming string of poor results resulted in Bayless tweeting, “Incomprehensibly bad: LeBron’s Fakers have lost 16 of 21 to fall 11 games under .500. Games are over in the 1st q. 2-9 since the break – LeBron leads NBA in turnovers over those 11. He was 1-8 from 3 tonight, 5 more turnovers. Lakers were preseason favourites to win it all!”
While LeBron has been sensational this season but the Lakers have been over dependant on him and playing him in major quarters has slowed him down. His chances of winning his third scoring title is diminishing with each match. LeBron’s scoring average slipped from 29.7 ppg to 29.5 ppg after the loss to Minnesota.
