NBA Analyst Robert Guerra feels getting Kyrie Irving elevates the Lakers as a Championship team than getting Hield and Turner from Pacers

The Los Angeles Lakers had a prolonged talk with the Brooklyn Nets over the trade of Kyrie Irving. But the Nets are asking too much and hence the Lakers are not happy with letting go of their first round picks. However there reports suggest that the Lakers are keen to secure the Indiana Pacers duo of Buddy Hield and Myles Turner. In this trade the Lakers are ready to sacrifice some first round picks as they are getting two players who would instantly elevate the level of the team.

But the Lakers have failed to convince the Pacers as they are not interested in Russell Westbrook who is declining rapidly. Therefore no one wants to take the risks of trusting Westbrook on their roster as he is nowhere near his best version.

The Lakers fans are very angry as they have not managed to make any substantial signing as they have faced rejection from both the Brooklyn Nets and the Indiana Pacers. So they have not managed to elevate their level from last season. LeBron James want to win another Championship and does not care about the draft picks but the Lakers front office has been very rigid in keeping hold of their valuable picks.

Recently on the ‘Old Couple’ podcast Ropbert Guerra opposed Chris Broussard’s judgement of giving up first round picks. While Broussard wants Lakers to give away some draft picks to get better now, Robert Guerra feels that there is no point giving up first round picks for players like Hield and Turner.

“There is no scenario where the Lakers decide we would rather offer 2 first-round picks for Buddy Hield and Myles Turner and not offer 2 first-round picks for Kyrie Irving,” Guerra said. “That’s just not gonna happen because say what you want about Kyrie and his availability issues and him being a mercurial guy, to say the least, Kyrie on your team with LeBron and AD raises your ceiling in a way that the other two just do not.”

He shares how having someone like Kyrie Irving is not comparable to two players from the Pacers in terms of quality. “I’m not saying that they’d be the favorites to win the championship but it’s not even close. If you have those three versus LeBron, AD, and the two Pacers guys, it’s not comparable.”

While Hield and Turner will massively improve the Lakers overall and add more depth to their roster. Getting someone like Kyrie Irving will change the picture completely and the trio of LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving will elevate their quality into one of the Championship rosters.
