Luka Doncic led the Dallas Mavericks to the Western Conference finals as they held their nerves to beat the Phoenix Suns and set up a final clash with the Golden State Warriors. The Mavericks scored 57 points in the first half as they restricted the Phoenix Suns to only 27 points. Game 7 was mostly closed out there as Luka Doncic dropped a personal 27 point first half.
Many people favoured the Suns to progress over the Mavs considering their superior regular-season performance. The Suns finished at the top of the conference winning a maximum amount of matches. But once again Luka DOncic showed that he is genuinely a player who can be the face of the NBA in the coming years as he guided his team through to the Conference finals.
However, through the course of the season, one person who backed the Mavs and especially Luka Doncic was media personality, Nick Wright. On “First Things First,” Nick Wright took the chance to remind his crew of the choice that he made early on in the season as he backed the Mavericks to perform.
“I tried to warn you both. I gave you all the longest runway imaginable. I told you the Mavs were making the finals two months ago,” Wright added.
The Suns had a difficult night as they were completely shaken by the way the Mavs attacked them and scored points from early on. Luka Doncic led the charge and was well supported by Jalen Brunson and Spencer Dinwiddie as they played major role sin helping the Mavs win the Game 7.
Dinwiddie also dropped 30 points form the bench as he rose to the occasion and proved how valuable he can be for the Mavericks. Brunson scored 24 points with Doncic leading the scoring with 35 points.
Nick Wright was very ecstatic looking at Doncic’s performance as he called out the things said by other NBA experts. “This needs to be a Jalen Brunson centric offence. You can’t win this way. It’s like with Harden in Houston. I heard all of it.”
“What happened down three games to two? Who stepped up? Who made sure his team won by a combined 60 points in the final two games of the series? Who sent the 64-win, defending Western Conference champions home? – Luka bleeping Doncic,” Wright added.
Luka Doncic has been compared with several former superstars and greats but most experts had the query whether he could do it under pressure in the playoffs and now the Slovenian beats has shown that he can be trusted as a leader despite his tender age.
Luka Doncic’s performance in the series was outstanding, averaging 32.6 points, 9.9 rebounds and 7.0 assists. The Dallas Mavericks lost the first two games and that’s where Luka Doncic decided to take the attack to the opposition.
