The MVP race this season is one of the tightest as many players are right up there fighting for the crown. With the likes of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Dioncic, Jayson Tatum, Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic and Kevin Durant playing at a very high level it will be very tough to select one to win the trophy this time as all of them have been stalwarts for their teams.
If all of the above mentioned players remain healthy and keep up their consistency then the trophy might be going anywhere. NBA analyst and former champion Kendrick Perkins shared his thoughts regarding the best players this year and who he thinks will win the much coveted trophy. While he mentioned everyone of the candidates and gave them a shoutout for being so sensational for their respective teams.
Kendrick Perkins told NBC Sports Boston that the people and the pundits sometimes seem to not count Nikola Jokic which he feels is very disrespectful for someone who has won the last two Regular Season MVPs and it can very well be three in a row. “I think we’ve been disrespecting Jokic a little bit,” Perkins said.
The former Celtics man has been very fair in giving out shout outs as he recently praised Luka Doncic for his inhumane performance as he dropped a 60-point triple double which had 21 rebounds. He carried the Dallas Mavericks to overtime and then won it for them against the New York Knicks. The match and also the performance is talked about as one of the most impressive regular season games and performances in NBA history.
Perkins shared how he has played with Hall of Famers and have been up against some of the greats of the game but he also admitted that he has never seen something like this. He felt that it was one of the best individual performances that he has seen in his life.
“I’ve played with a lot Hall of Famers and seen some all time great performances… but what I just witnessed from Luka Doncic was one of the greatest individual performances I’ve ever seen in my damn life!!!! Don’t mind me tho and Carry on…” Perkins tweeted.
Lukas has been playing at a high level throughout the season but to win the award he will have to continue this form and also gather more wins for his team. The Mavericks are currently in seventh position with a 19-16 record in the Western Conference. It is true that the Mavericks don’t have players who can support Luka Doncic day in and day out and that affects the Slovenian’s game and chances of the Mavericks going up in the rankings. So for now that is the only concern for Luka Magic as he needs to keep up the intensity
