It has been a very stagnant offseason for the Los Angeles Lakers as they have not made the big moves that were required after a dismal performance in their last campaign. They have been back and forth with the Brooklyn Nets over Kyrie Irving. It is still on the cards and NBA analyst and commentator Colin Cowherd feels it will be a great pick for both parties but mostly for the Lakers who will be a fun team to watch.
Cowherd shared how the Nets will get two first round picks and dealing with Irving at this stage of his career can be risky for them as well. So they would surely think a lot before calling shots. But Cowherd is mostly concerned about Irving playing with LeBron James again and will also have the company of Anthony Davis and he feels that will be a very fun team to watch even if it is a very short term fix for the Purple and Gold army.
The deal is currently on the line with Lakers denying to hand the Nets a second first round pick according to recent reports. However Cowherd believes that the Lakers will be a massive gainer from this trade as it will allow them to be very competitive following a very below par season according to their standards.
Therefore he analyzed the trade deal on Herdline News as he shared “”If I’m Brooklyn I would do that. I get two first-round picks, cos I don’t think you want to be in the Kyrie business long-term and I actually think he has massive value to the Lakers. I don’t have to like Kyrie long-term but if you give me a couple of years of LeBron, Kyrie, and Anthony Davis, it makes them in a very competitive sports market consumable.”
He shares how the Lakers are currently pretty boring to watch and if LeBron James and Anthony Davis misses out, things are bound to go down quickly. But Cowherd feels that Kyrie can add that exciting quotient in this team and make them very competitive. “Lakers problem now is they’re not a good watch. When LeBron and AD are out, they’re not competitive, they’re not good, they’re not a fun watch,” he added.
The Lakers missed out on postseason in their last campaign and that was mainly due to injuries and drop in form. They tried their best but simply it did not work out for them. Therefore with a new coach in Darwin Ham, the Lakers are looking to get back in title contention in the upcoming season.
