With every season, the chances of LeBron James hanging his boots is increasing. He would want to go out with a bang by winning the NBA Championship. Fans may forget but he is already 36-year-old and at this stage of his career, there is no way he will play all the matches as injuries can be a major concern.
Last season it was tough for the Lakers, despite being tagged as the favourites to win the NBA, the Purple and Gold army lost their way when both James and Anthony Davis were sidelined for a major chunk of the season. Lakers somehow managed to qualified for the playoffs through the newly introduced play-ins. However there again AD was injured and the Lakers were out in the first round after losing to the Phoenix Suns.
Therefore the Lakers management will be eager to stitch a very strong squad around LeBron James and help him get another ring before he decides to call time on his career.
If Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer is believed then there are a lot of positives for the Lakers. However, the front office will also have to work swiftly and play their cards right.
Fischer recently appeared on Lakers Central Podcast, where he revealed everything that the Lakers fans need to know about their team during the offseason.
“The good news for the Lakers is that there is absolutely a large amount of talk from team executives around the league right now that if the Lakers are able to get a Kyle Lowry or make this home run of getting Russell Westbrook and trading Kyle Kuzma for Buddy Hield, let’s say … there’s a lot of speculation right now that seems founded that the Lakers have a ton of veteran-type players ready and interested to come sign on minimum deals and go chase this ring with LeBron [James].”
It won’t be easy for the Lakers but if their front office acts swiftly and smartly then they can challenge Brooklyn for the NBA title next season. The Purple and Gold army are adamant to sign someone like Kyle Lowry or even Buddy Hield. However, the biggest snatch of the season will be if they manage to lure away Russell Westbrook from the Washington Wizards ahead of the next season. The stakes are high and bringing any of them will be excellent for the Lakers.
