Brooklyn Nets have added Mike D’Antoni and Ime Udoka to join it’s coaching staff. Both individuals will be serving as assistant coaches to Steve Nash.
It will be a reunion for Steve Nash and Mike D’Antoni, as the latter played under the former Sixteen years ago.
D’Antoni left Houston Rockets on the 13th of September after the team was eliminated from the conference playoffs’ semi-finals.
D’Antoni has coached 13 full seasons in the NBA, and Nash, who will be head coach, said that the franchise had assembled an experienced coaching staff, and he hopes to, together with the group, hopes to move the team forward.
He said: “We’ve assembled an experienced staff of high-character individuals with varied backgrounds, both on and off the court, that will help create a solid foundation for me and our players; when I set out to build this staff, I wanted to put together a committed group that would connect with our players and help put them in the best position to succeed as a team.”
“With coaching and playing experience at the highest level and a deep background in player development, I’m confident that we’ve put the right people in place to lead us forward.” Nash added.
Nash has previously played under D’Antoni, winning back to back MVPs between 2004 and 2006 with the Phoenix Sun.
Meanwhile, NBA players have been reported to be opposing the plans of the NBA to restart the 2020-2021 NBA season on the 22nd of December.
According to the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) executive director Michele Roberts, the players do not want the league’s 72-game proposal for the 2020-21 season.
Training camps are expected to start on the 1st of December, while a shorter free agency period is being considered while drafting started on the 18th of November.
