NBA analyst Shannon Sharpe has showered praise on Luka Doncic for his impressive play. Doncic is regarded as one of the best young players in the league and his records in the last few years speak for themselves.
Sharpe compared Doncic with former legendary player Larry Bird and said the Slovenian is phenomenal. In fact, the pundit feels Doncic might be even better than Bird. Sharpe also rated Doncic as the number one player under 25 years of age in the NBA.
Doncic has been ticking the right boxes in his young career and he has impressed one and all with his skills. The 23-year-old was at his best as he averaged 28.4 points, 9.1 rebounds and 8.7 assists in 65 games in 2021-22 season. He was selected to play in his third All-Star game.
Doncic has been playing a key role in the success of the Dallas Mavericks and he was carrying the team on his shoulders.
Speaking on Undisputed, Sharpe said, “Luka is the closest thing to Larry Bird, and when it’s all said and done, he’ll probably be better than Bird! Luka is the one guy that can give 40 points and 15 assists. He’s phenomenal.”
In 2021-22, Luka shot 45.7% from the field and 35.3% from three-point range as he was at his best for Dallas Mavericks.
He averaged 26.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 6.6 assists in seven games of Eurobasket while playing for his national team Slovenia.
Dallas Mavericks will begin their NBA 2022-23 season against Phoenix Suns on the 19th of October. Doncic will look to continue the good show for the Mavericks and he will look to deliver for his team.
