Los Angeles Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka confident of Anthony Davis’ strong return from injury next season

Los Angeles Lakers star player Anthony Davis has received a lot of flak for his persistent injury problems and the downfall of the Lakers in recent years. They did win the Championship in the bubble in Orlando but since then things have gone downhill. Experts have often said that Anthony Davis is one of the best players in the league and has that talent to even bag the MVP award but the Lakers star is yet to show that potential in full flow.

Hence some people have shared their theories that AD has lost interest after winning the Championship in 2020. While others feel that he has lost that aggression which bore fruit for the Lakers in the Championship winning season.

Davis has struggled with injuries and it is true that he has taken a more cautious route on his return to court in the fear of not tweaking any other muscle. But that has not worked out for him as he has struggled with several issues even after getting partially fit.

Despite all the negative talk, the Lakers management have supported AD to the their utmost level and now he is coming back better than ever. On SiriusXM NBA Radio, Lakers GM Rob Pelinka shared how AD is a very private person as he does not share images or videos on social media on him in rehab or training. But he is sure that the big man is putting in reps to get better, stronger and sharper in the upcoming season.

“AD works quietly. He doesn’t put it on Instagram, the sweat videos. I know he’s been running the sand dunes. I think he’s getting in the boxing ring and doing some reps there. Just really trying to do all he can to come in to camp in incredible shape.

Pelinka then continues on how the negativity around Anthony Davis works like a energy source for him as he sees everything. He also adds how he will prove everyone wrong in this upcoming season. “He sees all the naysayers and all the people saying, ‘Can he stay healthy for a full season.’ That’s just fuel for him, to have a big year. He’s a top three two-way player in our game when he’s healthy and playing at that level,” Pelinka added.

The Lakers would like to forget the last season as they failed to qualify for the playoffs. But they are excited for the upcoming season as they look forward to LeBron James teaming up with Anthony Davis. While there are uncertainties regarding the future of Kyrie Irving and Russell Westbrook. Kyrie is one of the top targets for the Purple and Gold but till now nothing has been finalized between the Lakers and the Nets. A potential deal may mean Westbrook leaving the franchise and joining the Brooklyn Nets.
