It has been a frustrating season for the Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James. The team’s season has been going from bad to worse and they have been plagued by injuries. Lakers are already without Anthony Davis and dark clouds hover over LeBron James’ availability after he twisted his ankle against New Orleans Pelicans.
The Akron Hammer turned his ankle when 10:09 were remaining in the second quarter and he didn’t know how he finished the game despite suffering the injury. James was at his absolute best once again as he scored 39 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists. But once again his efforts went in vain as the Lakers suffered a 116-108 loss.
“I mean, I have no idea how I finished the game, to be honest, after watching that replay,” James said. “It’s pretty nasty.”
James is not sure whether he will play the upcoming matches and he is hopeful of not missing much time.
“I hope not,” James said. “S—. I hope not, because I hate missing games. That’s not in my nature.”
The veteran also explained how he turned his ankle against the Pelicans.
“I was going in for an offensive rebound and I and Jaxson basically stepped at the same time,” James said. “He got his foot on the ground before I could get my foot back on the hardwood. I stepped on his foot and rolled my ankle.”
Lakers head coach Frank Vogel admitted that it has been a frustrating season for them with injuries hampering their progress. The Lakers have gone 6-13 without James this season when he has missed out due to injury.
“It’s tough. It’s just been that kind of season. He was just in an incredible groove right around then, and credit him for toughing it out. But you can see he was limited on it somewhat the rest of the way. But he battled through it.”
Lakers will next lock horns against Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday.
