The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Dallas Maverick in overtime to continue their winning streak in the current season. The Purple and Gold army defeated the Mavericks 107-104 in overtime. The match saw Lakers rookie Austin Reaves come up huge in overtime to help LeBron James and his men grab a crucial win.
Only 0.9 seconds were left in the game when Reaves sealed the win for the Lakers. Right after the game, LeBron James lauded Austin Reaves performance on the big night. He said, “Extremely proud and excited for AR15.”
The 23-year-old youngster from Okhlama delivered 15 points along with seven boards and two assists. This was surely the rookie’s best performance till date for the Purple and Gold Army. “I grew up watching all these guys play so for me to just be teammates with them is special, ” Reaves said after the tight contest.
During an interview, Reaves highlighted how coaches, teammates and LeBron have acted as an inspiration for the rookie. He gets a lot of guidance in the illustrious dressing room from players who have won multiple honours in the NBA over the years.
LeBron James has been Reaves’ mentor for some time now. The Akron Hammer speaks to him every day and teaches him the nuances of the game. Even in matches, we can often see James guiding Reaves and helping him with the moves. Therefore Reaves in return never misses an opportunity to thank LeBron for his constant support and guidance. Reaves has immense respect and gratefulness for LeBron James.
The match also saw LeBron James turn hero as he dropped in 24 points along with five assists and three rebounds as he led the charge for the Lakers in a great win. He was largely supported by Russell Westbrook who scored 23 points with 10 boards and 9 assists whereas Anthony Davis drilled in 20 points with 12 boards to help the Purple and Gold army.
Lakers are currently sixth in the Western Conference with a record of 16-13 and that will increase if they can win against the Minnesota Timberwolves in their upcoming fixture in the NBA.
