Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James was ejected for the second time in his career as a wild fight broke out in the match against Lakers and Detroit Pistons. Although the Lakers won 121-116 against the Pistons, the highlight of the match was LeBron’s clash with Isaiah Stewart.
Things got pretty serious in the third quarter when Lebron’s elbow caught Pistons’ Isaiah Stewart’s head and bloodied him as they fought for a box out from a free throw. Stewart needed five stitches to stop the bleeding after the game. The clash left Stewart bloodied and he then chased LeBron that resulting in a massive brawl. The officials literally struggled to contain the players. Although LeBron apologised to Stewart, the Pistons’ star was not interested in any of it as he reached out to attack LeBron but was physically held back by others.
The PA announcers took action as they constantly reminded the fans to stay in their seats as the situation heated up to a certain stage where the fans were almost on the verge of entering the court. They were even told not to throw objects at LeBron while he was ejected and headed out of the court through the tunnel.
Stewart was also ejected for his part in the brawl while Russell Westbrook received a technical foul. Anthony Davis said that he has never seen such a reaction from Stewart ever in his career as LeBron apologised as he stated, ‘My bad.’
“Everyone in the league knows LeBron is not a dirty guy,” AD said post-game.
“You got cut above the eye. It wasn’t on purpose. We were not [sic] going to allow him to keep charging (LeBron).”
his was the second time LeBron was ejected in his long NBA career. The first one came back in 2018 when he was playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers. He received a technical foul when he argued with match referee Kane Fitzgerald for a non-call. Later he got ejected when he threw an air punch at the referee before chasing him and verbally abusing him.
With this win, the Lakers have now improved their records and are in the eighth position in the Western Conference. They are now 9-9 in the West and will now go on tour facing the New York Knicks followed by their match against Indiana Pacers.
