Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant had his say on the best point guard debate of this generation where he had a different perspective. KD picked his former teammate, Chris Paul over a popular choice of Stephen Curry. However, KD reiterated that it is a very debatable call.
Durant was asked to make his picks on the same brackets for the NBA In-season tournament which kicks off this weekend. KD there highlighted the Golden State Warriors in West Group C for being the most veteran team where he called Chris Paul as the best point guard of this generation.
“Chris Paul is arguably the best point guard of this generation… I said arguably. We can argue,” the 13-time NBA star stated.
There might be many opinions on how Curry, who is actually the favourite for this position has revolutionized the sport with his long-range shooting which has evolved the sport completely. He also won four NBA titles which works in his favour while Paul is still looking for his first.
However, Paul has his own strengths as he is a brilliant playmaker and can elevate any team by his presence as he boasts a great basketball IQ. he was with the Suns for the previous three seasons and spent the last season with Kevin Durant.
However, now Paul has joined the Warriors and the top two contenders for the title are in the same team. But the Warriors could care less about the debate and would rather want their players to be focused on the In-Season tournament and the 2023-24 NBA Championship.
Kevin Durant is also excited to play in the first-ever NBA In-season Tournament on their modified floors in Phoenix. He was massively thrilled to step on the purple court and show his magic”We are playing with a purple court? In the NBA? No way. That’s insane. Never done before, right? I love it though. The ‘El Valle’ is my favourite part. Our jerseys are perfect. It just represents so much here in the City of Phoenix, State of Arizona. Just representing The Valley right here.”
The courts will be used for the In-Season Tournament for Group Play and Quarterfinals. They have a very distinctive and bold design which is all across the league.
