Miami Heat superstar Jimmy Butler isn’t much bothered about his franchise being in the Play-In tournament spot in the table. He believes that the Heat can beat anyone in the league. The Heat are seventh in the Eastern Conference and are 1.5 games behind the Brooklyn Nets and a spot in the playoffs.
However, Butler isn’t bothered about the situation as he assures that the Heat can beat any team in the league when the time comes. He recently spoke about the Miami Heat and also touched upon his playing style in an interview with Yahoo Sports.
“I don’t give a damn. I just love playing basketball. We can beat anybody when we’re playing the right way. Play-in, here we come. Playoffs, here we come,” Butler stated.
The Miami Heat are destined to play in the Play-In tournament. There’s only one way they can avoid the Play-Ins and make their way to the playoffs. If they win their last three matches and the Nets lose their last two, then Heat will overtake the Nets for the last playoff spot. But overall it looks very unlikely.
A sixth-placed finish in the Eastern Conference will mean that the Miami Heat will face the Philadelphia 76ers. If they finish in the Play-Ins then they will have to win a game to face the Boston Celtics, who defeated them in the Eastern Conference finals last season.
Overall, Butler is not concerned as he feels that his team is on point and can challenge any team in the league.
Coming to his personal playing style, Butler has never averaged more than 16.5 field attempts in his career. Despite being the superstar in his team, he has never been a volume shooter. This season he is averaging 13.9 field attempts.
Butler shared that he was never a volume shooter, if he was then his number would go up and he does not play for numbers. He understands where he is required to take shots and he does these things accordingly. “I’ve never been a volume shooter my entire career. Not only in the league, at Marquette, at junior college. I don’t need to shoot the ball 20 times to be effective. If I wanted to shoot the ball 20 times, I could, and then my numbers would go up. But I don’t play for numbers. I get in where I fit in,” he explained.
The veteran shared that he understands the game well and knows when the team needs him to take shots consistently. It can be in different quarters and he has that game awareness to understand and execute. “If I need to shoot the ball in the fourth quarter, I get that. If I need to be aggressive in the third, I get that. First? I get that. I can read the game pretty well,” he concluded.
Butler is averaging 22.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game this season. However, he is shooting a career-high percentage of 53.7% from the field.
