Emmanuel Mudiay appeared on the Heavy Live With Scoop B Show recently, promoting his non-profit Emmanuel Mudiay Foundation, which uplifts single parents and children and feeding communities across the globe. Mudiay told Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson: “They got a lot of similarities when it comes to the game.” He then explained:
“So, yeah. And I think that one thing that people are forgetting too is you know, he came in his rookie year and has been averaging over 20 ppg since he’s been in the league. In his rookie year he averaged 20, but I think people are expecting — you work your way up like this, right? Like, if you get drafted you might average 10 ppg.
Then it’s 15, then it’s 20 like that but, he made such an impact his first year people don’t let him have a moment of… how can I explain it… not a failing moment but he doesn’t have a whole lot of room to be… normal or to be him if you think about it.”
The Jazz played an epic seven-game series against the Nuggets in the second round of the playoffs, with Mitchell having an outstanding performance and he averaged 24.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 34.3 minutes over 69 games this season.
Wade sees the similarities himself and last month he tweeted that Mitchell is in fact now superstar.
“I wish I was that good that young,” Wade once told NBA TV’s Chris Miles.
“That kid, he’s special. I think that he’s a great defender as well; a lot of people don’t really talk about that.”
