Dallas Mavericks talisman Luka Doncic scored 41 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists against defending champions Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night. This was the third triple-double of the ongoing season for Doncic while the rest of the league has had naught.
Doncic was at his absolute best once again as he led his team to a 116-113 win to avenge their previous season’s Western Conference finals loss against the Dubs.
Doncic has shown why is one of the best players in the NBA. The Slovenian also became the sixth player in NBA history to record at least five 40-point triple-doubles after Oscar Robertson (22), James Harden (16), Russell Westbrook (7), and LeBron James (6).
For Dallas Mavericks’ head coach Jason Kidd, Doncic’s exemplary performances are getting quite boring.
“It’s getting boring,” Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said. “I mean, let’s see something different. Maybe do it with his left hand. I’m just joking.
“Look, he’s one of the best in the world, and that’s what he does. Some of us can take him for granted. The man is special.”
On the other hand, GSW talisman Steph Curry also showered praise on Luka Doncic. Curry admitted that Doncic’s ball-handling skills keeps the opposition on its toes.
“His size and his ball-handling skills keep you on edge the entire game, [and] that plus him being a three-level scorer, you’ve got to worry about everything,” said Warriors star Stephen Curry.
“Then obviously his court vision is unreal. It’s an offensive package of being a playmaker and scorer, and when he’s knocking down shots like he did tonight, it’s tough. You want to take something away from him, but he can make play after play.”
Doncic was delighted with the team’s win and was happy to contribute to the side’s success.
“I just participated, giving everything I got,” said Doncic, who was 14-of-27 from the floor. “I was really tired at the end, but we needed this game. I think we deserved this win, and we for sure needed this win.”
Dallas Mavericks will next take on Detroit Pistons on Thursday night.
