LA Lakers’ Anthony Davis expressed confidence ahead of the team’s opening match against Golden State Warriors on Wednesday. The Lakers will be looking to make a winning start to their season but they are going to have their work cut against the reigning champions.
The Lakers and the Golden State Warriors have played 430 games in the regular season with 258 victories for the Lakers and 172 for the Warriors.
Anthony Davis said in the press conference, “Our first two games are against two title contenders. It’s always good to spoil a ring night. My mindset is going up and starting the season with a couple of W’s.”
Meanwhile, after winning the NBA Championship in 2019-20 with the Lakers, Davis has struggled to keep his injuries at bay.
In fact, in the last two seasons, Davis has played only 76 matches out of it possible 154 games because of his injury woes. Thus, he hasn’t been able to support LeBron James and Co.
Davis continued his struggle with injuries in the previous season as he averaged 23.2 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in 40 games in 2021-22. Ergo, he will be determined to come up with better performance for the Lakers.
Davis recently said he wants to play all 82 matches of the regular season. It will be crucial for the Lakers that Davis stays at the top of his fitness and deliver the goods for the team in the upcoming season.
The Lakers will begin its NBA campaign against the Golden State Warriors on the 19th of October.
