Steph Curry is a four-time NBA champion, a two-time MVP, and an NBA Finals MVP. But Curry doesn’t have an Olympic medal in his glittering cabinet. Curry has now decided to sign up for the 2024 Paris Olympics for the United States.
The talisman revealed the reason for him to sign up for the national team was his Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr. Kerr is due to take charge of the U.S. Olympics team for 2024 and he played a key role in convincing Curry to play in the major event next year. The 35-year-old has said he will play for Steve Kerr any day of the week.
“I have no idea what next summer looks like, it’s obviously an extra bonus that Coach Kerr is leading the charge,” Curry told ESPN.
“I’d love to play for him any day of the week, so let’s see how things are going in Summer 24′.
“It’s the one piece of the resume that coach always likes to joke that I don’t have. He’s already kind of recruiting for next season or next summer.”
Curry has shown that he is still fit as a fiddle and he will be 36 when the Paris Olympics will begin. Meanwhile, Curry averaged 29.7 in the 2022-23 season for Golden State Warriors. He also averaged 6.1 rebounds and 6.3 assists in the previous season of the league.
Golden State Warriors’ campaign in the 2022-23 season came to an end after their 4-2 loss against Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference semifinals.
On the other hand, the USA won the gold medal in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics by beating France by 87-82 in the final. This was America’s 16th overall and fourth consecutive gold medal at the Games.
