It is a famous adage that Game recognizes game. Late and legendary Kobe Bryant had earlier predicted that Steph Curry was meant for greatness when he saw him during the nascent stages of his career.
Curry came out of Davidson in 2009 and since then he has taken the NBA by storm. The talisman was drafted No. 7 by the Golden State Warriors in the 2009 NBA draft and he has ticked the right boxes ever since.
Curry has won four titles, two MVPs, and an NBA Finals MVP in his glorious career. The linchpin had led the Dubs to glory in the 2021-22 season as he was at his absolute best.
Rapper Killer Mike recalled his conversation with Kobe Bryant, in which the latter predicted a great future for Steph Curry.
“I was like, ‘Yo, you finna retire on me,’” Killer Mike said on the recent interaction on the Shop.
“I said, ‘I don’t really know who I’m going to be like yo, this the man, he’s the Goat. He’s going to take it all this year. Who should I look to follow?’
“He said, ‘I’m going to tell you. It’s this kid if he can stay healthy because he’s skinny.’ … And he was like, ‘Man it’s this kid, I’m watching him. But I think he’s who you should follow.’ And I was like, ‘Who?’
“‘He’s this kid named Steph Curry.’ And that’s when I started watching Steph and Golden State, and he is not disappointing. I was like, ‘Oh, my God.’”
Mike also revealed what made him a huge fan of Kobe Bryant, who had a great career for the Los Angeles Lakers. The rapper feels Bryant’s hunger to be the best version of himself, made him the player he was.
“Kobe was one of those greats who identified because he reminded me of Hercules,” Killer Mike said.
