Andrew Wiggins played an instrumental role in taking the Golden State Warriors to the NBA Championship in the 2021-22 season. Wiggins provided great support to Steph Curry and Co. and gave his best. The 27-year-old was averaging 17.2 in the regular season whereas he averaged 16.5 in the postseason.
Meanwhile, Wiggins made his NBA debut back in October 2014 and after some impressive performances, he was being touted as the next LeBron James. However, Wiggins kept his feet on the ground as he knew there ain’t going to be another Akron Hammer.
James has had a glorious career and he has been an inspiration to many young players. The talisman is still going strong at 37 and he is all set to play his 20th season in the NBA.
“My confidence has always been high,” Wiggins said in an interview with Mark Carman of FanSided. “Always confident in my ability, on-and-off the court. I put in the work so I was prepared for the moment. I was ready for it and I had my own expectations.”
“I knew that their ain’t never gonna be another LeBron. LeBron’s LeBron, you know? I’m just there trying to be the best player I can be, so that’s what kept me going.”
After just two months of his draft, Wiggins was sent to Minnesota Timberwolves from Cleveland Cavaliers. However, Wiggins added he wouldn’t change anything about his journey.
“I can’t draw in the past, though,” Wiggins said. “I wouldn’t change nothing. I would just keep the same road. I love everything that happened in my career, the ups and downs. I feel like this championship made everything worth it, so I’m happy.”
After his impressive performances for Minnesota Timberwolves, Wiggins was awarded the Rookie of the Season in 2015. Wiggins still has one year left in his contract with the Dubs, which is worth $33.6 million.
