The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Utah Jazz in overtime as LeBron James made the game-winning lay-up. Incidentally, he had a great opportunity to finish off the game in regulation time but he missed it.
Hence, LeBron was determined to not let the chance go away twice, helping the Lakers register their fourth straight game.
The game was tied at 133 and with thirty seconds left on the clock, Lebron drove to the basket and made a smooth lay-up. However, Talen Horton-Tucker had an opportunity to win the game for the Utah Jazz but he could not connect his jump shot.
After the win, Lebron James shared that he had to redeem themselves after failing to hit the winner on regulation time. He had the game awareness and the time left on the clock and understood that even if he missed, the Lakers would have another crack if they get a stop.
“I wanted to go quick,” James said. “At least if I miss it, they come down, we get a stop, we get another crack at it. And I had to redeem myself for the end of regulation. I smoked the layup. … I had to make up for it and I was able to make up for it.”
LeBron explained the importance of team chemistry which he puts higher than winning the next three games. He feels that chemistry is the most important aspect of a team going into the postseason. “It’s all about chemistry,” James said. “The more minutes we can get on the floor with one another, the better we’ll be. … I’m thinking of putting my feet in the ice bucket right now. I haven’t played that many minutes in about five and a half weeks. I’m thinking about getting my body ready.”
LeBron finished with 37 points, five rebounds and six assists to lead the Lakers to their fourth straight win. This was his best performance since returning from injury. He missed a month’s action due to his foot injury.
Apart from him, Anthony Davis contributed 21 points, 14 rebounds and six assists. Whereas Austin Reeves continued his great form as he came up with 28 points, three rebounds and six assists to help the Lakers win a thrilling game.
The Lakers are currently seventh in the Western Conference with a record of 41-38 and will face their arch rivals Los Angeles Clippers in their next match.
