LA Lakers talisman LeBron James expressed confidence after scoring 43 points against Charlotte Hornets and leading his team to 121-115 win on Monday night. James stated he is feeling really good in every facet of his game.
The veteran had his second consecutive 40-point game and became the first player since legendary Michael Jordan to have two 40-point games on the trot at the age of 38. Jordan had achieved the same during his stint with Washington Wizards.
Meanwhile, James was kept on the court for 39 minutes and 33 seconds, which was the most for any player, by head coach Darvin Ham. The chief coach was delighted with James’ efforts and hailed his fitness.
“I just want to ride him,” Ham said. “And he allows you to do that because he takes such great care of himself. So, it’s a great luxury to have.”
On the other hand, James was also delighted with his own performance and said the focus is to do well in the ongoing season.
“Last year is last year,” James said. “Obviously, found a good groove last year. But this year is this year, as well. I feel really good in every facet of my game.”
Meanwhile, James also grabbed the limelight with his reverse windmill dunk after an assist from Denis Schroder.
“The pass always makes for great highlights,” James said. “I was able to bring it home and in fashion.”
James’ teammate Austin Reaves showered praise on the veteran for delivering the goods for the team despite being 38 years old.
“It’s incredible,” Reaves said. “To see him at his age … the stuff that he does, the way that he moves, the contact that he endures in a full game and just the way that his body has held up this whole time, it’s super impressive.
“But it’s a testament to what he does on a daily basis. He’s always the first one in the training room, the first one taking care of his body and also getting the work in as well. So, to say the least, I’m happy to be on his team.”
The Lakers will next take on Miami Heat on Wednesday night.
