NBA analyst Nick Wright has questioned Anthony Davis’ underwhelming performance for the LA Lakers. Davis has struggled to perform at his best due to his struggle with consistent injuries. In fact, the 37-year-old LeBron James has been by far the best player on the team despite his age being not on his side.
Davis is averaging 24.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks. Davis is shooting 50.9% from the field and just 20.0% from 3-point range and thus he hasn’t been able to prove his mettle for the Lakers.
Meanwhile, James was in stellar form in the previous season as he averaged 30.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 6.2 assists in 56 games in 2021-22. He was also selected to play in his eighteenth All-Star games.
However, the Lakers have once again gotten off to a horrid start in the ongoing season as they have lost all of their three matches.
James has been performing consistently for the Lakers but he hasn’t received support from the rest of his teammates. The veteran once again top-scored for his team with 31 points against Portland Trail Blazers in the previous match but his efforts went in vain as Darvin Ham’s team lost by two points.
Speaking on What’s Wright, Nick Wright said, “LeBron James is the third oldest player in the whole league. All he’s done so far is give you 27, 11 and 7. In last night’s game, he gave you 31, 8, and 8. Did he miss the game-winner? He did miss the game-winner. Should he have ever been in the position to where they needed a game-winner, of course not?”
“He’s also leading the Lakers in minutes, how is LeBron averaging more points, rebounds, assists, and minutes than Anthony Davis? How is that possible when Anthony Davis is supposed to be in his prime.”
The LA Lakers will play their fourth match of the season against Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night.
