Reigning two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo could be on his way out of the Milwaukee Bucks in the offseason as he moves into the final year of his contract.
Already, NBA teams have started courting the Greek, with the Dallas Mavericks leading the race to sign the MVP.
However, they will have the Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, and Toronto Raptors to contend with if they are to secure the signing of the player who will become an unrestricted agent at any moment.
According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, Dallas Mavericks are the front runners instead of the widely believed Miami Heat.
“We talked a few minutes ago about how the Miami Heat are a team that a lot of people look at as trying to get Giannis Antetokounmpo out of Milwaukee.”
“I’m telling you here, the Dallas Mavericks, to me, are going to be really at the front of that line. The big factor is that any free agent, whether it’s Giannis or anybody else, they want to have a third star. So, [Kristaps] Porzingis has to prove he can be healthy to be that third star.” Windhorst said.
Meanwhile, should Antetokounmpo decides to join the NBA losing finalists, they would have one of the most feared attacks in the NBA with Luka Doncic and Porzingis.
Meanwhile, the player himself has spoken of his wish to remain at the Milwaukee Bucks and it is being said that the team has started working towards keeping him.
In September, the Milwaukee Bucks’ Co-owner met with the player and assured him of recruitments that would bring in big names, which will help the Bucks compete and possibly win the championship.
Giannis had spoken that he wouldn’t leave, stating that him leaving the Bucks was not going to happen. He made the clarifications after the Bucks lost to Miami Heat in the NBA playoffs.
