Teams in the NBA who fail to make it to the postseason often look forward to the offseason where they can make amends to their roster. One such team will be the Golden State Warriors, they need a massive revamp in order to add vital players to the supporting cast which already stars like Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.
This was the second consecutive season when the Warriors missed the playoffs berth. Therefore it is crucial for the management to make changes that are necessary. It has been a season filled with injuries and disappointments and even amidst all of the chaos, Curry had almost MVP like numbers. But with also no support the Chef failed to guide his team to the playoffs.
The franchise needs to use their lottery picks very carefully and they are only one among two teams to have two picks. These picks will help them immensely in materializing trades as they are of immense value. There are rumours floating that the Warriors are set to dish out young center James Wiseman along with Andrew Wiggins in exchange for Pascal Siakam from the Toronto Raptors.
The Warriors will also expect the return of their very own ‘big three’ which includes Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. Klay Thomson is set to return to action after being on the sidelines for two consecutive years. His inclusion will add a lot of firepower to this Warriors team.
So if they bring in someone like a Siakham who is an NBA All-Star in his own right it will only bolster their ranks. They are planning to use Wiseman and Wiggins in exchange. While the young center suffered from injury for most of the season, he still has shown glimpses of his brilliance and has proven that he has potential. On the other hand, Wiggins is a player who offers something on both ends of the pitch, something which makes him a very handy player. Former Warriors legend Chris Mullin has not supported the deal fully from his heart.
Mullin told KNBR about a possible Siakam trade, “If I’m Toronto, I’ll do that in a second. Tolbert, Krueger, and Brooks. That particular deal — I still have a lot of faith and belief in James Wiseman, and Siakam, he’s a heck of a player but he’s similar to what they have.”
“If you watched these playoffs, every team has a legitimate center that they use at some point during the game, during the series, to change the way they’re playing. So, I mean I believe in James Wiseman, that’s my personal opinion,” he added.
Mullin does not understand the logic behind getting someone way older who is not even as talented as the young center they are including in the trade.
