The Dallas Mavericks came out victorious against the Brooklyn Nets as they were inspired by a great individual performance from Luka Doncic. The Mavericks won 96-94 in a very tight battle where their talisman scored 36 points and is looking like a prime contender for the Most Valuable Player award this season.
Former NBA star turned analyst Jalen Rose highlighted how Doncic has this ability of carrying the team on his back which he has done for the Mavericks this season. He genuinely feels that the Slovenian superstar can be the difference for the franchise as he is destined for bigger and better things in future.
It was a tight game and the Nets were without their star Kyrie Irving who is suspended for a minimum of five games. Kevin Durant had a good game with 26 points and had everything in his power to take the game to overtime but he missed a late free throw to lose the game.
Recently on ‘Jalen and Jacoby’, Jalen Rose highlighted how Luka Doncic was a huge factor in the Mavericks win and how he scored the bulk of the points just like he is carrying the Mavs on his back.
Rose immediately drew parallels with the Warriors having a superstar like Stephen Curry. He said,”The Warriors won. Why? Because they had him (Steph Curry). The Mavs won. Why? Because they had him,” Rose said. “He scored, basically 35% of their points, they didn’t even have a hundred and he had 36. That’s domination!
However Rose still feels that the Sovenian will need a second player who can also step up to an All-Star level to help the Mavericks reach their desired destination. With Doncic they have reached the Conference Finals.
“But if the Mavs are gonna be a true contender, they’re gonna need a second player that emerges to perform at an All-Star level. That’s what it’s gonna take for them to ascend to the next level. But having Luka still puts them in position. Not only to be a playoff team, but last year they were in the Western Conference finals,” Rose concluded.
This season there is a massive chance of Luka Doncic becoming the MVP. While there are competitors like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Stephen Curry still in line, Doncic has been at a different level with his offense flowing smoother than it has ever been in the last two years. The Mavericks currently have a 6-3 record and will be looking to continue their winning streak against the Orlando Magic.
