The Gold State Warriors have been one of the most iconic teams in the NBA especially when they won the Championship in 2017 and then again in 2018. The team was filled with star players starting from the big three of Kevin Durant, Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. Matt Barnes who was with the Warriors’ NBA Championship winning team shared his experience of playing with all the star players.
Barnes made all the revelations to the host, Gilbert Arenas after appearing on ‘No Chill with Gilbert Arenas’. The former Warriors small forward candidly shared his experience of sharing the dressing room with all these star players. Barnes spoke about his move to Warriors in 2017 from the Sacramento Kings. He revealed how he and his boys had a great experience since joining the Warriors ahead of the NBA Championship winning season.
Barnes said, “I think the best part about that whole ride was that the twins got to experience it with me. So they were traveling on the plane in the locker room in the Western Conference Finals after practices. At nine years old, having shootouts with KD and Steph.”
“I was just like, to me, that experience was so dope and then when we won the championship, these little motherf*****s are on the front of the stage trying to grab trophies from coach and KD and Steph and thinking they want a championship, too. So it’s like you couldn’t tell those little motherf*****s they didn’t win nothing, so that’s why I decided to buy them rings as well.”
Barnes went on reiterating how it was the best opportunity in his career as playing with such players was a different experience for the small forward.
The Golden State Warriors dominantly started their preseason by winning against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Warriors front office have set up a team that is filled with youngsters and also have the required amount of experience. If Klay Thompson returns in time then the Warriors will find themselves in a different position than last season. Curry will also get more support from Thompson and it will also be a big season for youngster Jordan Poole who is tipped to be the next big thing on this Warriors’ roster.
