Bradley Beal has been a sensation for the Washington Wizards this season and his association with the team has been one of the most talked about things in the NBA right now. While Beal has consistently dropped top-class scoring performances, the Wizards have struggled to find those victories. Hence, there are questions on Beal’s future with the team.
The Wizards are just 4-12 this season and there is not much left for Beal to do to get this team back in the winning ways. His body language also gives it away that he does not see his future with the team. Despite their win against the Brooklyn Nets, Beal had a casual attitude and did a bare minimum.
The slow start for the Wizards has forced people to talk about the team and some even feel that they should free Bradley Beal. Former NBA centre Kendrick Perkins who is also an analyst discussed Beal’s future in the NBA on ESPN.
“Free Bradley Beal, you got to free that man. Look, he has been loyal to this organization long enough… Look, it’s time for him to move on. He cannot waste any more time just playing minimal basketball. This guy’s leading the league in scoring, averaging almost 35 points a game.
“It is not anybody else, It’s on Bradley Beal to come out and say it’s time for a change. I’m requesting a trade. And it’s also on the ownership of his agent to give him the right advice to say you know what? I need to put you in the best position possible. And right now this isn’t it.”
Bradley Beal is leading the scoring charts in the league this season with 34.9 points per game while shooting nearly 47.9% from the field. Despite all of his efforts, the Wizards have been very ordinary this season.
It is now or never for the Wizards as they finally have seen a glimmer of hope. New acquisition Russell Westbrook finally turned up and had a great game in their win against the Nets and this may be the start of a new beginning for the Wizards this season. Westbrook, despite his reputation, was in a slump for most of the season till now and finally, it looks like he is coming back to his own. He has revealed that he was not fully fit earlier and now he is feeling a lot better.
If those things are true then we can see the Wizards pushing for the playoffs with Westbrook and Beal firing in all cylinders. But if things don’t work out this season then the Wizards may find themselves in a spot where they have to free Bradley Beal.
