Former NBA Champion Brian Scalabrine feels LeBron James is more impactful but Kevin Durant overall is the best player currently

The NBA can boast of several superstars at this moment. But among them LeBron James and Kevin Durant have written their legacy in this league with some exquisite performances which have made them the stars that they are today. The duo of James and Durant are easily two of the most decorated Nba players.

The duo went up against each other during their time at Cleveland and Golden State Warriors. James obviously has been here for a long time now and hence he is ahead in terms of statistics. But Durant also has great influence and can turn any game on its head.

The Lakers talisman has won four NBA Championships in comparison to Durant’s two titles. But one has to agree that with age kicking in for LeBron, Durant has been the better player out of the two. But then again LeBron James guided the Lakers to an NBA Championship last season so the debate is pretty much up in the air.

In the 2020-21 season, Durant has taken over LeBron James in terms of points. The Brooklyn Nets superstar has averaged a massive 27 points per game this season whereas LeBron James’ average was around 25 points per game. Durantula also carried the Nets to the Eastern Conference Semifinals alongside stars like Kyrie Irving and James Harden. Whereas the reigning champions, Lakers had a season to forget when they somehow reached the playoffs via play-ins and then got knocked out in the first round by the Phoenix Suns.

In the debate between these two players regarding who is the best currently, NBA Champion Brian Scalabrine answers it very diplomatically. He pointed out how LeBron is still the most impactful player but tagged the Nets star to be the best player at this point in time.

“I think he [LeBron] is the most impactful when it comes to winning, but I do think Kevin Durant is probably the best player in the NBA,” quoted the ex-Celtics player who is now an analyst. “But LeBron; if I had to write down a guy to win me a series or a game, LeBron would be the guy I’d pick. But it’s a long season, he’s getting up there in age, maybe he’s the second-best player.”

Both the players have failed to win the NBA Championship this season and hopefully, they will come back stronger in the next upcoming season.
