Defending NBA Champions Milwaukee Bucks have had a slow start to this season. But they are gradually heating up and their record of 27-18 in the Eastern Conference may not be the best but they always turn their game up against top teams. While Stephen Curry and LeBron James have been performing great this season, the latter’s team have struggled at times despite him being superb.
Bucks talisman Giannis Antetokounmpo has always been there and thereabouts in termns of performance. His recent performances have got people rolling as they feel that the Greek Freak should also be in the MVPO conversations this season. Former Los Angeles Lakers man Kwame Brown claimed Giannis and the Bucks as his team to watch out for as we head onto the business end of the season.
The Bucks are currently fifth in the Western Conference while they have been massively inconsistent this season, Giannis and company always seems to turn up when they face some big teams. They recently defeated the inform Golden State Warriors by a scoreline of 118-99. The match saw Giannis rise to the occasion as he delivered a 30-point triple-double for the Bucks overshadowing Stephen Curry’s 12 point game. Therefore all the chirp surrounding MVP conversations came from that performance.
However, the Bucks needs to be more consistent as they have lost consecutive two matches since the win against the Warriors. They were defeated by the Toronto Raptors and the Atlanta Hawks.
Coming back to the MVO conversations, LeBron James has been playing at a very high level this season but his team have struggled to get going. Recently he was seen apologising to the Lakers fans for their performances. Therefore Kwame Brown feels that Giannis and the Bucks are capable of stopping the Curry’s Warriors this season as the Lakers are not in great shape.
Right after the Warriors vs Bucks match Brown heaped praises on Giannis as he said, “LeBron and all those guys, they coming down shooting three after three trying to match Golden State. That ain’t gonna work, that’s gonna lead to long transition shots. What Milwaukee did, that’s a lot of pressure they put on your boy. They driving to that basket; they driving and kicking and they kick out. So they get either wide-open threes or they’re getting a dunk. That’s hard to deal with.”
He also added how no one will look to play against the Bucks with Giannis in full flow. He wished every team good luck in guarding and stopping the Greek Freak this season.
“No way I would want to play against Milwaukee Bucks. They get into that rack and if you stop the rack, you gotta collapse in. They’re kicking out the wide-open shooters. So, good luck guarding them in the playoffs. Good luck to any team that gets a hold of that monster,” Brown added.
Therefore it will be interesting to see if the Bucks manage to defend their title this season or the in-form Warriors takes home the Championship especially with Klay Thompson’s return to the court.
