Former Golden State Warriors head coach Mark Jackson opens up on watching Steph Curry during his college days

One NBA’s greatest talents Steph Curry has been a sensation for the Golden State Warriors and also for the game of basketball worldwide. Many people believe that Curry has played a big role in revolutionizing the game with his long range shooting. The three time NBA Champion has been with the Warriors for his entire NBA career and has helped the franchise win several accolades.

Curry was the NCAA scoring leader in 2009, the year he was drafted in the NBA. The Golden State Warriors showed faith in him and picked him as their 7th overall pick. He was with the Davidson Wildcats and averaged a phenomenal  28.6 PPG, 5.6 APG, and 2.5 SPG in his last season with the team.

The Chef was already a big name during his junior season and most people believed that he could dominate the NBA with his exceptional shooting ability. Recently, former Warriors coach Mark Jackson has recently opened up his opinion on Curry during his college days.

Jackson recently appeared in the show “Club Shay Shay’ and during the interaction, he shared his insights about Curry back in his college days. He said, “I did a Duke-Davidson game where Steph Curry was at Davidson in his senior year in college. And I was last year in college and my partner says to me ‘I don’t think he’ll be a good NBA player’. ‘I don’t think he’s a point guard in NBA’.”

“I looked at him and said Jeff Van Gundy by the way I’m not only in the name-dropper but he’s on record saying that like ‘no, this guy is a starting point guard’. Today he’s going to be a top-notch talent in the league. He’s special. And I watched him as a young kid because I played with his dad in Toronto with the Raptors.” Jackson told Shannon.”

Curry made a huge impact in the NBA right in his rookie year. His performances for the Warriors impressed everyone as he made it to the All-Rookie first team. He developed a lot under Jackson and became one of the best shooters in the NBA.

Jackson was with the Golden State Warriors for three years and after a poor first season, Jackson helped the franchise post a 47-35 record the next season. Although he had a season in his contract, Jackson was replaced by Steve Kerr. It was under Kerr, the Warriors managed to create a legacy as he guided them to the NBA Championship in the following season.
