Donovan Mitchell Leads Cleveland to Historic 9-0 NBA Start, While Curry and Warriors Shine Against Celtics

Donovan Mitchell continues to elevate the Cleveland Cavaliers, helping them reach unprecedented heights in NBA history with a 131-122 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. Mitchell’s 29 points propelled the Cavaliers to a remarkable 9-0 start, marking the first time in their 55-year history they’ve opened a season undefeated over nine games.

Meanwhile, Stephen Curry showed his enduring skill, scoring 27 points along with nine assists and seven rebounds, as the Golden State Warriors (7-1) defeated the Boston Celtics 118-112. This road win extends the Warriors’ winning streak to five games and gives them their best season start since they went 11-1 in their 2021-22 championship season.

Atlanta Hawks’ No.1 overall draft pick Zaccharie Risacher also had a career-defining night, scoring a personal best 33 points with seven rebounds in a 121-116 victory over the New York Knicks.

Risacher was in exceptional form, making 6 of his 10 three-point attempts and recording three assists, three steals, and two blocks. Karl-Anthony Towns led the Knicks’ effort with 34 points and 16 rebounds, keeping them in contention before the Hawks surged ahead in the final minutes.

Elsewhere, Ja Morant led the Memphis Grizzlies with 20 points but was forced to leave in the third quarter due to a hamstring injury as Memphis bested the Los Angeles Lakers 131-114. LeBron James led the Lakers’ scoring efforts with 39 points, though it wasn’t enough to overcome the Grizzlies’ offensive edge.

The Houston Rockets enjoyed a strong team performance, defeating the San Antonio Spurs 127-100. Fred VanVleet delivered his first double-double of the season with 21 points and 10 assists, while teammates Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun contributed a combined 37 points.

Australian Boomers center Jock Landale added 11 points and six rebounds off the bench, while rookie Jack McVeigh saw his first NBA minutes, though he missed his three field-goal attempts.

In other notable performances, Luka Doncic led Dallas to a 119-99 victory over Chicago, with 27 points and 13 assists, overshadowing Boomers guard Josh Giddey, who struggled in the matchup.

Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic posted a stunning triple-double with 23 points, 20 rebounds, and 16 assists, teaming up with Russell Westbrook to rally from a 16-point deficit for a 124-122 win over Oklahoma City.

Meanwhile, Kevin Durant’s 32 points helped the Phoenix Suns stage a comeback against Miami, turning a 15-point deficit into a 115-112 victory and extending their winning streak to six.

Sacramento defeated Toronto 122-107, Charlotte edged out Detroit 108-107 with a buzzer-beating tip-in from Brandon Miller, and Indiana and the LA Clippers also emerged victorious in their respective games.
