Coach of the Oklahoma City Thunder Billy Donovan will not be in charge of the team in the next NBA season.
Donovan has been with the Thunder’s for five seasons, but the announcement was made on Tuesday putting an end to an impressive 243-157 run as the Thunder’s coach.
Already, Donovan is at the end of his contract but his final season is not short of quality as he took the team to the playoffs as he has always done in his five previous seasons.
He has also been named as one of the finalists for the NBA coach of the year. His team held Houston Rockets to seven games in the playoffs first round.
In his statement, Donovan was full of appreciation for his coaches and players at Oklahoma.
“I have great respect and admiration for the players I coached in Oklahoma, and I also want to thank the coaches I worked with, who gave unbelievable time and expertise to our common goal,” Donovan said in a statement on NBA.
The general manager of Oklahoma City Thunder Sam Presti stated that the decision of Donovan to depart was on mutual grounds.
Meanwhile, the NBA has released its All-Defensive teams of the season on Wednesday with Reigning NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo getting his second selection in the all defensive first team.
According to the NBA, the Milwaukee Bucks player got 97 votes and got 195 points in total from a global panel of 100 sportswriters and broadcasters.
Also On the 2019-20 NBA All-Defensive First Team are Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthony Davis (187 points; 87 First Team votes), Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons (185 points; 88 First Team votes), Utah Jazz centre Rudy Gobert (180 points; 85 First Team votes) and Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart (152 points; 57 First Team votes) as per the NBA’s announcement via its Twitter handle and website.
