Suns star guard Devin Booker is contributing during these hard times we live in because of COVID-19. Booker will help raise money for food bank contributions.
A one-time NBA All-Star, Booker loves video games and per ESPN’s Marc J. Spears, he partnered with live stream service Twitch and Phoenix Suns Charities in an effort to assist the non-profit charity Arizona Food Bank Network. Booker also donated $100,000 himself.
“An avid gamer and NBA All-Star, Suns guard @DevinBook pledged $100,000 to tip off the giving campaign on Twitch. Phoenix Suns Charities will match that initial donation. Funds will benefit non-profits like the Arizona Food Bank Network,” Spears tweeted.
The Suns released a statement about Booker’s project with Twitch:
“Given the unprecedented and constantly-evolving situation surrounding the effects of COVID-19 on our community and beyond, Devin Booker, in partnership with Phoenix Suns Charities, will raise money through live-streaming on Twitch to support non-profits that best serve the needs of the most vulnerable in the community.”
Devin Booker had a viral moment last week when he found out that the NBA decided to suspend the season because of the coronavirus outbreak while live-streaming Call of Duty: Warzone on Twitch.
Jazz star center Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19, along with his teammate Donovan Mitchell, Pistons power forward Christian Wood, four members of the Nets, star forward Kevin Durant, three members of the 76ers, two players from the Lakers and Celtics guard Marcus Smart.
This initiative from Devin Booker with the food bank is crucial because the underprivileged have a hard time finding food while the world collapses and tries to stop the spread of COVID-19.
