Los Angeles Clippers superstar Kawhi Leonard has been guilty of missing out on games as he returned this season after a long break and is again out with some concern. Former Celtics star and NBA Champion Paul Pierce shared how Kawhi Leonard is in the same category of Anthony Davis. He highlights how both the players missed a lot of games due to injury concerns but it is only Anthony Davis who gets all the flak.
Pierce points out how people see both of them differently and just because Leonard has some achievements to his name, the fans treat him well whereas Davis is constantly criticized for his injury prone nature. It is true that NBA fans and critics don’t look beyond a player’s shortcomings when they have already achieved a lot in the game. Pierce points out how Leonard is compared to LeBron James and Kevin Durant when he is playing at his best.
The Celtics star feels it is concerning how Leonard has missed so many important games and is still on the sidelines. He also shared how the team would take extra care of him and put him on load management whenever he is ready to play.
“We don’t hold Kawhi accountable enough,” Pierce said. “We’ve mentioned him in the same breath as LeBron and KD when he’s at his best. But then how we talk about Anthony Davis not being available, we don’t put Kawhi in that group. We don’t say anything about him always being in street clothes.”
The Klaw has played only two games this season till now as he returned from injury and is now going through load management. Pierce’s points have value as Anthony Davis also returned from injury and is playing day in day out for the Lakers even through their bad patch this season.
“He’s missed two seasons, always out, ain’t really putting a lot of games together but we never talk about that. I don’t if it’s the way he’s injured or the way Anthony Davis is injured,” Pierce added.
Currently the news is Kawhi Leonard is missing matches due to injury management as he is facing stiffness or soreness on his knee. However he has already missed more games than what the Clippers have planned for him and it’s not looking good for the player, the team and also the front office.
