Giannis’ absence was due to the fact he welcomed a baby with his girlfriend on the night of the game. Despite thoughts that the Greek Freak’s absence could affect the team’s performance, the boys played a good game, showing excellent coordination, as they led their opponents with over 10 points. This would be their 5th game without Giannis this season.
In Giannis’ place stepped in Khris Middleton and Eric Bledsoe, who scored 28 points each, giving their team the necessary lead. Although the Kings played a very good game, taking the lead at some point.
At the end of the third quarter, the Kings were leading by 2 points. It was then that the Bucks took advantage of airballs from the Kings to take the lead. Part of the advantage was the two 3 points scored by Bledsoe. The Kings were, however, relentless, determined to square things up so that at a point, they were just 6 points behind when the scoreline was 103-97.
Still, the Bucks were determined to make good use of the last quarter, as it was even a part of the strategy, as pointed out by Bucks’ Brook Lopez, who scored 20 points in total. They continued to dominate the game, bringing the final score to 123-111. The Kings played a very good game, scoring the highest in both the second and third quarters.
Monday’s loss would also be their first loss in four games. The Bucks, however, still continue on their streak, having won 46 games and lost 7 this season. A brilliant record indeed. They won their last game against the Orlando Magic, a game that saw Giannis miss the opportunity of making NBA history. But this game has also shown that the boys can hold their game down without Giannis, which is indeed something to be happy about.
