The biggest trade of the NBA season has happened with James harden swapping sides with ben Simmons and leaving the Brooklyn Nets to join the Philadelphia 76ers. The Nets received Ben Simmons, Seth Curry and Andre Drummond along with two first-round picks. However ever since James Harden’s departure, the Brooklyn Nets fans have started grilling Kyrie Irving. Some fans felt that it was Kyrie Irving who should have been traded for his shenanigans this season instead they lost one of the biggest assets in James Harden.
However, Kevin Durant was active to stand by his teammate as e came up with an answer to all the fans bashing Kyrie Irving on social media. Durant highlighted how it is easy for everyone to target Kyrie with all that has happened this season. He feels that Irving is an easy target for everyone as he comes up with a brutal reply.
It was not long ago that the Brooklyn Nets were touted as the NBA Championship favourites for this season. Their Big Three of James Harden, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant were all healthy and gunning for the upcoming season and there was no reason to not consider them as favourite as they also had a great supporting cast led by Patty Mills.
The Nets are currently going through a losing streak and are without their star players. While Irving is unable to play home games, Durant will remain out for the next few matches after picking up a knock. Lastly, James Harden has already joined the Sixers in a sensational trade.
Therefore a lot of people including the media have found an easy scapegoat in Kyrie Irving. So addressing their remarks, Durant stood by his teammate. He said, “Kyrie has always been an easy scapegoat for everybody, especially for the media and the fans, they love to use him as a scapegoat for a lot of problems. So it’s easy to blame him.”
The Brooklyn Nets are on a 11 match losing streak and a turnaround from here looks bleak. The Nets are currently eighth in the Eastern Conference and with their declining form things can very easily go more south.
