Brooklyn Nets recorded their 11 defeat of this season in a tightly fought contest against the Los Angeles Clippers. Kevin Durant and James Harden led the scoring for the Nets at the Barclays Centre but it was not enough for them to overturn the buoyant Clippers team.
The Clippers were behind the game in every quarter but a comeback in the last quarter saw them clinch victory against a dominant Brooklyn Nets team. They came from behind to win the match by a 120-116 scoreline.
This was the second consecutive defeat for Steve Nash’s men. The Nets also lost to the Philadelphia 76ers before facing the Clippers and it is definitely a concern for Durant, Harden and the company. This defeat left the team and the staff frustrated. Durant led the scoring with 28 points. He also came up with nine assists and three rebounds against the Clippers.
Meanwhile, James Harden had a fantastic outing. The Beard recorded a triple double, scoring 34 points, 13 assists and 12 boards but their effort was not enough to inspire a win against the Clippers. The Nets gave up a seven point lead in the game to lose the match by four points. They were beaten in the last quarter by a gritty Clippers side led by Eric Bledsoe who scored 27 points in the game.
During the post-match interview, Kevin Durant was frustrated with the defeat as he admitted that the players were too chill against the Clippers in a very important game.
During the interview Durant was asked about the attitude of the Nets. Durant replied with a remark that the Nets were ‘too chill’ in an important clash.
“It’s natural when a team is missing so many players,” Durant said.
“They’re going through so much over there. (We) relaxed. You don’t think you could lose an NBA game like this. They’re missing how many guys? They’re playing guys that are up from the G League. Xavier Moon came in and hit some shots for them. Keon Johnson, James Ennis… .. they all made an impact I felt on the game, and I think we came in too chill to start.”
The Nets were indeed a did casual in their approach and they were taken by surprise by the Clippers. Inspired by Bledsoe the Clippers outscored the Nets in the fourth quarter by 40-29 points to beat the Nets and record their 19th win of the season.
The Brooklyn Nets will be looking to get back to winning ways against the Memphis Grizzlies.
