A lot of NBA fans all over the globe want to see Ben Simmons on court once again. It looks like the Australian will be back in action for the Brooklyn Nets as they look to push for the title with their ‘Big 3’ all looking ready for the new season.
The Nets know how last season ended for them as they were swept by the Boston Celtics and now they will be looking to prove a point. The offseason was rough with so many rumour of the Nets breaking away and players moving here and there. But nothing of that sort has happened as they decided to run it back this season with the aim of giving their best and finally realizing the potential that they have in this team.
The initial ‘Big Three’ for the Nets was Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden but with Harden moving to the Philadelphia 76ers and Ben Simmons going the other way, the Australian has to live up to the expectations. Although he is not as popular as Harden as a players, experts feel Simmons will bring in physicality and defense to this Nets’ team that has too many options in scoring and direly needed someone who can play defense. Simmons ideally can do that but having not played for sometime it will be interesting to see how the Australian turns up.
Ahead of the season, during the Media Day,. Kyrie revealed the feelings that he gets from sharing the court with Ben Simmons. He totally believes that Simmons can be the best again as he has that relentless strive for success. Kyrie who stands like a elder brother for Simmons wants to help the 26-year-old to go through that process. “His resolve and his resiliency. He wants it. Whatever greatness looks like for him, he wants it.”
“When you’re around other people and you’re in a great environment where you can be supported when you’re going through your ups and your downs, I think that can help ease the journey,” Kyrie Irving concluded.
Despite all the rumours during the offseason, they are still a great team which can contend for the title. The ‘Big Three’ are as good as it can get and if Simmons manages to get back to the player he was earlier, especially on the defensive side of things, then the Nets will flourish as a contender this season.
