The Brooklyn Nets are looking like one of the most balanced and stacked teams ahead of the upcoming NBA season. While James Harden will play a big role in deciding their fate, the Nets have made some crucial moves in the offseason. They have brought LaMarcus Aldridge back from retirement and have also roped in Patty Mills to add more firepower to their roster.
The Nets are aiming for the NBA Championship this season but they will first have to get to the playoffs. Their first target will be to go deep into the playoffs and eventually win the title. They will also look to avoid injuries, unlike last season where Kyrie and Harden were both out. It was Kevin Durant who had to carry the Nets and despite his best efforts, they lost to the Milwaukee Bucks. However, with the entire roster healthy and available, the Nets are definitely one of the favourites to lift the title this season.
Other than the Nets, only the Los Angeles Lakers can be considered as favourites. The Purple and Gold army have also stacked their roster with plenty of veteran stars as they look to regain the NBA title. However recently Harden claimed that he is not worried about any other team. He said that the Nets were, “not worried about anybody else”
A reporter asked Harden whether he felt that the Lakers are making all these offseason moves only to beat the Nets. Harden replied, “Honestly, no. I think we’re very confident and we’re great. Like we’re talented enough.”
“We have a very new vet group that’s been there before we have some young guys that are going to be done in a fire with us. But it’s not about anybody else but us. Like if we take care of our business and approach the game and approach each day like we know you’re going to know we’re not ready we’re not worried about anybody else.”
The Lakers are favourites to win the Western Conference and with their stacked team, it would be a surprise if they didn’t. The Brooklyn Nets on the other hand are tipped to top the Eastern Conference but they will face stern competition from reigning champions Milwaukee Bucks. It will be interesting to see these teams in action as we head closer to the start of the new NBA season.
