Brett Brown on Monday was fired as the Coach of the Philadelphia 76ers after seven season having lost out in the first round of the Post season.
Elton Brand who is the GM of the team says the team has gone in the best direction after a disappointing year where the 76ers had a 43-30 in the Eastern Conference.
“I have a huge level of respect for Brett both personally and professionally and appreciate all he’s done for the 76ers organization and the City of Philadelphia, He did many positive things during his time here, developing young talent and helping position our team for three straight postseason appearances. Unfortunately, we fell well short of our goals this year and I believe it is best to go in a new direction.” Elton Brand said.
Expected to be a contender, the 76ers were seeded sixth but got knocked by Boston Celtics.
Meanwhile, the team has said that it will start the process to hire a new coach instantly.
In other news, Portland Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard suffered a knee injury in Monday’s Game 4 against Los Angeles Lakers.
His injury came in the third quarter and is his second injury after getting a dislocated finger in game 2.
After an initial MRI scan which was inconclusive, Lillard had a second MRI on Tuesday afternoon and the result, as at the time of filing this report, was undisclosed.
The Trail Blazers have lost three games consecutively against Los Angeles Lakers despite winning the first game of the series.
Los Angeles Lakers can close up the series if they get a win in game 5 which will come up on Wednesday.
Lillard was named the NBA Player of the seeding games.
