Bradley Beal has been the talisman for the Washington Wizards ever since he was drafted by them. The Wizards paired him up with John Wall and then with Russell Westbrook both times they had some hope on their duos. John Wall was once the face of the franchise but ever since he left it has been Bradley Beal.
Bringing in Russell Westbrook was risky business but they did reach the playoffs. Although only to be beaten by the Philadephia 76ers. Westbrook, who was pretty good with the franchise left after only one season. He joined LeBron James and Anthony David at the Los Angeles Lakers. However, Beal feels that one should always look at the bright side of any deal rather than crying over his past teammate.
On the Woj Pod with Adrian Wojnarowski, Beal was very optimistic with the deal that the Wizards struck with the Lakers at Westbrook’s expense. He highlighted how the Wizards got many high-level talented players to fill out the roster in exchange for one superstar. He further added how the different players add up to the balance of the entire roster and has only been beneficial for the franchise.
He said, “we traded Russ, getting the pieces that we have, you know, that created our depth. You know, we traded one guy, got four or five guys back.”
“You know, we got Spence, got KCP, (Kyle) Kuz, Trez (Harrell), and they’re all viable pieces to our team. Those are four starters, right there are three or four starters. And to see that transition, that was, it wasn’t easy, you know. Getting acclimated with everybody at first. But we got off to a 10 to 3 start, right? We got off to an unbelievable start, we bought into, to how we needed to play,” Beal opened up.
But we also agree that with Westbrook’s creativity and playmaking Beal had the best season of his career last time out. He was averaging outrageous numbers, that he has never achieved before in his carer.
But one can agree that getting players like Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell and Spencer Dinwiddie have given the team more balance and they are now a more complete roster than they were earlier. Beal being the team man just fits in fine with the others.
