The Golden State Warriors came up with a solid win over Cleveland Cavaliers which also marked their 15th win of this season. Steve Kerr’s men were once again dependent on their main players in Draymond Green and Steph Curry and both turned up on the night inspiring a 31-win dominant victory.
Green and Curry have played with each other for the last eight years and have developed great on and off the court chemistry. Their on-court relationship has been one of the major sources of success for the Warriors in recent years.
Last night in the win against the Cavaliers both the senior players took the mantle on themselves and their chemistry was once again on display. Mainly with the passing, pick and roll and also the three-point gameplay. Their play was so good that Trailblazers star CJ McCollum appreciated them via Twitter. He replied to a video of Draymond setting a screen for Curry.
It was a great moment as the video depicted Curry pointing out a screen and Green waiting for the right moment to hand it over to him. Green’s swift movement caught the Cavs defenders off guard and allowed Curry to have a clear go at three points as Jarrett Allen was left to a mere spectator.
However a minute later Curry returned the favour to Draymond, as he dribbled to half court and then Curry pulled his defender out, setting up a magnet screen for Draymond. It allowed him a free way to the rim and easy two points via dunk.
Warriors forward Juan Toscano-Anderson perfectly sums up their chemistry. He said, “It’s beautiful basketball. I’m out there smiling, laughing, like, ‘how do you guard that?’ … their game reads are on a different level … I’m a super fan of the game of basketball, this is art to me.”
While it is so soothing to watch it is also very effective and it is earning them those results that they need. The duo have been working really hard especially after knowing the injury concerns of Klay Thompson which will keep him out for the entirety of the season. While Draymond himself suffered from some injuries and once he is back he has freed the load from Curry’s shoulders. He has helped the team in setting up the offence and moving the ball around, basically, he has helped them get back on their feet.
The Warriors are currently just a spot below the playoffs at ninth but if they keep up this form and consistency then there are strong chances of finishing in the playoffs this season.
