The Chicago Bulls have hired Billy Donovan as it’s the head coach of the team. The veteran coach was last with Oklahoma City Thunder for five seasons before he left.
Donovan, as the coach of Oklahoma City, he led them to the playoffs every season with a record of 243-157.
Donovan’s appointment was made public on Tuesday replacing Jim Boylen who failed to lead the Bulls to the playoffs this season as they joined seven other teams who didn’t join in the NBA restart in the Walt Disney bubble in Orlando Florida.
The thunders have done massive boardroom shuffle this year especially with the appointment of Arturas Karnisovas from Denver Nuggets as executive vice president of basketball operations in April while John Paxson was placed in an advisory role.
Marc Eversley became the Bulls’ general manager replacing the Gar Forman who was fired. The new executive vice-president, Arturas Karnisovas, expressed his pleasure of having Billy Donovan, who is a serial winner everywhere he has been.
“We are very pleased to welcome Billy and his family to the Chicago Bulls. The success that he has sustained over the course of his coaching career puts him on a different level. We feel his ability to help his players reach their potential, both individually and collectively, will mesh well with our roster. Whether as a player or as a coach, he has won everywhere his career has taken him, and we hope that will continue here in Chicago.” Arturas Karnisovas was quoted on NBA.
Chicago Bulls finished 11th in the Eastern Conference this season missing out on a playoff spot.
With an experienced manager in the mould of Donovan, the Bulls will hope for an improved fortune for the team when the next NBA season starts.
