Golden State Warriors talisman Stephen Curry has been a part of the basketball revolution with the way he has changed the game in the NBA and basketball in general. While Curry is already considered as one of the greats of the game, many people had their doubters on him. Over the years he has dealt with criticism many times and gradually has learnt to focus on the right things.
Recently a conversation came up where former NBA player turned analyst JJ Reddick picked Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic over Stephe Curry last season. He explains his take to Curry himself and while some of Reddick’s opinions are simply fab with his thought process, others are pretty flat and can keep people scratching their keeps. This was one such opinion where he selected Luka over Championship winning Curry for the Warriors.
“I chose Luka,” Redick said. “My gist of it was, he’s got more size, and this year, his clutch stats are better. … Luka is slightly better.”
Stephen Curry did not indulge in that discussion rather he shared how he has developed a tolerance for all these things. But he also shared that he is mindful of everything that is being said about him. “It’s nice to be aware of what’s going on, and also develop and a sense of comfortability in who I am,” Curry said. “You wanna be aware of what’s going on but I’m also so secure in who I am and what I can do on the floor. It’s more entertainment at this point.”
This Reddick opinion came on the ‘The FIrst Take’ as the panel already had Stephen A. Smith and Patrick Beverley. There the former NBA player turned analyst’s answer baffled many fans as he picked Doncic over Curry. “We’re talking about right now, in 2022,” Redick said. “Who would you rather have with the ball, with the game on the line? It’s clearly Luka Doncic!”
Both Stepehen A. Smith and Beverley argued on this point as they picked Curry and felt that he is much better in the clutch and is also a leader as he eventually went onto lead the Warriors to a title.
However the Warriors are struggling at the moment as the are eleventh in the West with a 8-10 record. The defense has not been working for the Dubs whereas Curry has been in some great form. They will look to sort out the defense as rest seems very fine for the Warriors.
