Golden State Warriors Steph Curry revealed that Anthony Morrow was the best player in high school he ever played against. Curry admitted that Morrow had everything as a player and it was difficult to keep him at bay.
Meanwhile, Curry hosted Curry Camp in San Francisco in partnership with Under Armour and his Curry Brand. He invited 26 young players from across the country and tried to give them exposure.
“Anthony Morrow, yeah. He was a Charlotte legend, still is a Charlotte legend. But I was a sophomore and he was a senior. He was a god, like, could shoot, was 6’5”, could post up, he could do everything. The best player I’ve played against for sure,” Steph Curry said in an interview while talking to Sports photographer and journalist Caleb Hanna.
Curry and Morrow shared a great bonhomie with each other in high school as they are both from Charlotte, North Carolina. Morrow attended Charlotte Latin School and he was two years senior to Steph Curry, who studied at Charlotte High School.
In fact, the duo became teammates with Golden State Warriors in 2009. The pair impressed with their skills in the 2009 Summer League.
Morrow also gave a nickname to Curry. He said on his show Life Podcast when Curry was a guest, “I had a nickname for Steph when we were with the Warriors — his nickname was ‘Middle School Shawty.’ He played carefree like he was in middle school, but it was effective. And he turned into one of the GOATs, man.”
On the other hand, Steph Curry played an instrumental role in taking Golden State Warriors to glory in the previous season of the NBA.
Curry averaged 25.5 points, 6.3 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per game. He shot 43.7% from the field, including 38.0% from beyond the arc in the regular season.
The talisman took his game to another level as he averaged 31.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.0 steal while shooting 48.2% overall in the NBA Finals as he was at his best. Ergo, he bagged the Finals MVP award for the first time in his glorious career.
