The Minnesota Timberwolves were knocked out of the NBA playoffs by the Denver Nuggets.
The Wolves fought and tried by all possible means to stay alive, but they knew that it would not be easy. Anthony Edwards said after winning Game 4 of the series: “There’s no way I’m going to be swept.”
But despite being aware that Denver was superior, it seems that Edwards did not take the elimination of his team in a good way since, according to a report received by the Denver police, the Timberwolves guard threw a chair and injured two employees of Ball Arena.
According to police spokesman Jay Casillas, the injuries were not serious. Still, Edwards was summoned to court on June 9 for third-degree assault after causing bodily injury “with or without intent.”
In the NBA TV broadcast, you can see the shooting guard run to the locker room and throw the chair to the side. The movement is relatively fast and hardly noticeable if someone gets hurt, but the evidence is compelling.
The Timberwolves issued a statement Wednesday night saying the investigation into the event is ongoing. “We are aware of the alleged Anthony Edwards incident after Game 5 in Denver and are in the process of gathering more information. There are no further comments at this time,” the statement said.
This is not the first time Edwards has been involved in a scandal. Before the start of the 2022-23 season, he was fined $40,000 for using homophobic language after the player himself posted a video on his social networks where a group of shirtless men can be seen on a sidewalk, later the 21-year-old player can be heard making a disparaging comment about what he assumed to be their sexual orientation.
