Anthony Davis Selling His House in South California; Will He Leave the Lakers?

Lakers star forward Anthony Davis declined a four-year, $146 million max extension in January so he could become an unrestricted free agent in July and while NBA executives expect him to stay with the Lakers, he recently put his Southern California house for sale.

This obviously opened the question of whether AD’s sale of his house means he will simply move to other part of California or if he plans to leave the Lakers.

Davis’ house is in the North Ranch area of Westlake Village, a small town outside of Los Angeles. He put it on the market for $7.995 million. The state has 2.3-acres, 15,515 square feet of living space, an infinity swimming pool, two water slides, a guest house, a movie theater and a basketball court with a viewing area. All this information is per a RE/Max listing, held by Jordan Cohen, one of the top real estate agents for pro athletes in California.

Anthony Davis is averaging 26.1 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists 2.8 blocks and 1.5 steals in 34.5 minutes over 18 games. Davis (plus-7.4 Box Plus/Minus) leads the Lakers in points, rebounds, blocks and steals and he also has a team-best 28.2 Player Efficiency Rating (PER).

Davis is clearly a top 5 NBA MVP candidate (plus-5.8 Offensive Box Plus/Minus) and Defensive Player of the Year (plus-2.8 Defensive Box Plus-Minus) and he will have many teams going after him in the offseason. The Lakers have to be considered favorites to retain him because he has a strong bond with LeBron James and the rest of his teammates and he has thrived there but the fact that he is selling his house is very intriguing to say the least.
