Always believed we could win the Championship, says Golden State Warriors star Andrew Wiggins

When Andrew Wiggins joined Golden State Warriors his potential and capabilities were doubted by several analysts. However he has answered them all with a splendid show in the NBA finals as the Warriors lift their seventh title and Wiggins became the Champion for the first time. The former Timberwolves man was sensational on both ends of the court and worked really very hard to keep the tempo up even when the Celtics were imposing themselves in the finals.

Despite all the difficulties that came his way this season, Wiggins knew that if the Warriors were fit and healthy in the playoffs they will be unbeatable and that turned out to be true. He recently revealed in an episode of ‘Point Forward’ that he always believed in the Dubs as they finished the regular season on a strong note and Klay Thompson was still not there yet.

“I always believed we could win the championship. And that we started off hot and I’m like, ‘Damn, we don’t got Klay yet.’ We had the second-best record in the league and we don’t have Klay yet,” Wiggins revealed.

“When Klay comes back, it’s gonna be scary. Me, Steph, Draymond and Klay, we never played our first game together till the playoffs, first game. Man, when we started gelling it’s over,” he shared.

He always believed that if they could be second during the regular season without Klay then they will improve drastically when he returns and that turned out to be true as Klay Thompson returned and played like he was never gone from the court.

Wiggins first played with Klay Thompson on January 9 against the Cleveland Cavaliers. It was Thompson’s first game in a couple of years. But apart from Klay Thompson, the likes of Draymond Green, Stephe Curry and even Andrew Wiggins missed matches so it was never smooth sailing for the Dubs through the season but they managed to let everything stick and finally won the title.

Right before the playoffs, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins played only 11 seconds together. Despite all the injuries and absences, Wiggins was sure that once they all get back up healthy they will be the team to beat in the playoffs and that turned out to be true as the Warriors finished the finals in Game 6 against Boston Celtics and Wiggins wrote his name in the NBA folklore with some exceptional performances.
