We are in the finals and it is something like no other. For the first time in the history of the NBA, we have Los Angeles Lakers vs. Miami Heat at the final. The Lakers are no strangers to finals, having won 16 championship titles, going for their 17th. Miami Heat is not as experienced, with only 3 titles in their possession. There are so many things to consider while making your predictions for the matches this week.
The first is experience. Lakers is one of the teams with the most features at the finals, this is including the 15 times they have lost at the finals. Although it has been a while they claimed a title and this is their first appearance at the playoffs in 7 years. Within that time, Miami Heat had made it to the playoffs 3 times, albeit without much luck. Some of the boys in Lakers now were not there when Lakers last claimed a title and so it is Miami Heat. But the Lakers have LeBron James leading them. LeBron was very instrumental to the Cleveland Cavaliers’ NBA 2016 title and it is expected that be would repeat the same success here in Lakers. Nobody currently in Heat has such qualifications and records.
The second thing is team formation. No doubt, Jimmy Butler is doing good with his boys, ably assisted by Bam Adebayo and Goran Dragic, and, so far, they have had no problem against other teams. The Miami Heat 2019/2020 team has to be the best we have seen in recent times. If those boys can push hard, there is no limit to what they can do. Lakers has a strong team as well. LeBron is taking his role as a leader very seriously.
The recent history between the two teams shows Lakers as the better but the way the boys in Miami have been playing in the bubble, it may not be sufficient to solely rely on that data. Both teams have faced some of the toughest teams in the NBA and have been able to triumph. Things get different at the finals and there is bound to be a different form of energy since there is so much at stake now. It is not enough to be the Conference champion; one also has to crown it with the NBA title.
